Potentiostatic Dealloying Fabrication and Electrochemical Actuation Performance of Bulk Nanoporous Palladium

Metallic actuators increasingly exhibit superiority over conventional (such as piezoelectric ceramics) via low energy consumption and large strain amplitude. Large amplitude high density (or work density) are required for an actuator with excellent comprehensive performance. Herein, we fabricated bulk nanoporous Pd (np-Pd) a dense structure by two-step potentiostatic dealloying of as-annealed Ni–Pd alloy chemical corrosion resistance, investigated the behaviors well electrochemical actuation A visible current oscillation occurred during dealloying, which is related to formation/dissolution passivating film. Additionally, since continuous ligaments establish good network connectivity response, np-Pd achieves up 3.74% density, stands out among many materials (e.g., np-AuPt, np-Ni, np-AlNiCu).
